M3 a Globular Cluster, - this image cropped from the original photo |
Nice and high in the Northern hemisphere's sky in mid and late spring, M3 is one of the great globular clusters. It has at least a half million stars and is about 34,000 light years away - further away than our galactic core, yet in a 10" or larger scope at about 100 power it's an eye full of resolvable points of glistening light. |
