M23, An Open Cluster, - this image cropped and reduced from the original photo

This in a nice sight in binoculars. It's located above and slightly west from M20 the Trifid Nebula. It's fairly bright and nice and big. Because of it's size it's a bit big for a telescope, and the view looses it's context, but never-the-less it's a fine group of distinctively brighter stars surrounded by the Milky Way's background stars. M23 has about 150 members which range around 250 million years old. They are about 2100 light years away.
